Phlebotomy is described as taking blood from a human and analyzing it to find out what is wrong with the patient. In order to practice in the art of phlebotomy, it is recommended that you get your certificate from an accredited phlebotomy college. Legally a certification is only required by two states; however the market seems to view that you need to be certified to practice. If you choose not to go and get certified then you may find it hard to get a job.
What is covered in your course?
To get your certification as a phlebotomy you need to have adequate training and experience in taking blood, but also being able to communicate and empathies with patients, even the difficult ones. The majority of the work that you will be doing is to take blood from the veins and draw blood into your needle to capture the blood. There needs to be a high knowledge of vein location, puncture points and comfort to become a phlebotomist.

The phlebotomy training program can last between eighteen and twenty four months depending on the program or the state that you are in. The more expensive phlebomoty training courses give you more credits and will allow you to give you a higher salary.
You will be taught a variety of theory and practical techniques. Your training will help you to be able to take blood and then analyze the blood so you can figure out what problems that your pateitnts are having so that you can make them better. In your course you will also cover anatomy training, safety training and patient care.
The exam can be taken once you graduate from your phlebotomy training course. Those who have not done any training must redo their theory test when they want to go back to work again. If you don’t pass your test on the first you will get chances to redo the test after you have completed it.
Once you have passed you exam, you should find it quite easy to get work since jobs in that field are in high demand in the US and Canada. The majority of phlebotomy training courses have job placement so it will be easier to find a job that way.
