To become a certified nursing assistant, you’re going to have to take and pass the CNA certification examination. To be able to take and pass this exam, you first have to take a course in CNA training. Passing each portion of this two-part test (written and demonstration) is a requirement for certification.
Once you have completed your certification training course, you have to sit down and go through some paperwork to register for the actual exam. You will be assigned a test date and time following your submission of all pertinent documents. Keep these facts in mind. It’s a good idea to start studying for the exam well before you even know when it is. Because the more study that you do, the better you are going to go in the exam and the more success you are going to have a finding a job.
CNA Training Procedures
It’s really important that you adhere to every step of the procedures when you are performing your demonstrations. It might not seem like a big deal if you forget to wash your hands, but even missing that one small step can result in failing the second half of the exam. Understanding each procedure is inadequate unless you have mastered the steps inherent to each. Sometimes, committing mistakes or missing steps cannot be avoided. If there is time, just point out your error to the administrator and ask to be allowed to repeat the demonstration.
If you don’t pass the exam the first time it’s not the end of the world, as you can always retake the test. Taking the test again is limited in some states so make sure that when you do retake it you have had enough preparation. After all, you simply can’t become a CNA until you pass the examination.
